Ok, so in all honesty, bone broth really is a powerhouse of nutrition, but it’s nothing new. Just think about every time you were under the weather growing up, what were you given….soup!  Not all soup is created equal, however, and that is why I am here to tell you all the goodness of Bone Broth.

Bone Broth is packed with trace minerals, nutrients & proteins; all of which help to support & maintain a healthy balanced system. It is incredibly easy for our bodies to digest and absorb which is why it is so highly recommended to add to your diet and referred to as a Powerhouse of nutrition.  And bonus; it’s super to make and freeze. • Collagen is a vital protein found in bone broth which can help build and repair the GI tract lining, heal leaky gut, reduce food sensitivities, promote healthy hair and nail growth, as well enhance skin's youthful appearance. Bone mineral density & dental health is also improved.

  • Mood & Cognition are improved by optimal Gut health. Brain fog and fatigue are usually a good indicator that your gut is in distress.

  • Amino Acids found in bone broth helps to boost metabolism, reduce appearance of cellulite, increase energy levels, preserve muscle tissue & support growth hormone production.

  • Overall health- bone broth reduces inflammation, promotes cell rejuvenation & maintains a balanced bacteria environment in the GI system.  These help promote joint flexibility, connective tissue & cartilage restoration, in turn helping to eliminate chronic joint pain & arthritis. Most importantly having a balanced gut & GI system will help to keep your immune system healthy and strong!

Bone Broth recipe

Ingredients: 5 pounds beef bones

¼ Cup Olive Oil or melted Butter

3 Large Onions; coarsely chopped. Skins can be left on but remove ends.

4 Carrots; chopped

4 Celery Sticks; chopped

¼ Cup Apple Cider Vinegar

5 quarts Cold Filtered Water

  1. Heat the oven to 400 F

  2. Place bones on the baking sheet, and toss with melted butter or olive oil. Roast for 30 minutes, or until slightly brown, turning half-way through for even cooking.

  3. Transfer bones to a heavy stock pot, add all veggies and water.

  4. Bring the pot to a boil over medium-high heat, and then immediately turn the heat down to low. After the first hour skim off foam that has risen to the top and discard.

  5. Simmer, uncovered, at least 8 hours and up to 16 hours.

  6. Strain the broth and either season & serve immediately, or pour it into jars and store in the fridge for up to 1 week and in the freezer for up to 6 months.

*This is a basic stove top recipe. There are many variations on cooking methods; stovetop, oven, slower cooker, etc.  Please keep in mind with all of these methods that they all take time.  You do not want to rush the process. If you cook to fast or “over heat” the broth you are actually cooking out all of the healing properties in the broth.
